We Legit. Still Building.
00:00:02
Yo, what's good? You are locked into the We Legit
00:00:05
1/6 Story and Hustle podcast. Well, real story meets real
00:00:09
grind. This is the platforms for
00:00:11
hustlers, creators, entrepreneurs, and everyday
00:00:15
people turning painted to purpose.
00:00:17
If you are chasing a vision, building from the ground up, or
00:00:21
grinding when nobody's watching, this is the podcast for you.
00:00:25
Now let's get into it. Today's episode is about love,
00:00:30
leverage and late nights while building a business and of
00:00:35
course goes along with building a relationship.
00:00:40
What the podcast is about is big picture.
00:00:44
The podcast explores what really happens when ambition and
00:00:48
intimacy run side by side. It's about navigating love while
00:00:53
chasing goals, managing time, money, energy and emotional
00:01:00
availability when you are building something meaningful
00:01:04
and try not to lose their relationship in the process.
00:01:09
It pulls back the curtains on the late nights.
00:01:13
Mistakes, money, conversations, power shifts and personal growth
00:01:21
that comes with being business driven and in love or trying to
00:01:27
be for some folks. Core things we'll cover first.
00:01:31
We're going to get into time versus attention.
00:01:34
Late nights, working while partner feels neglected.
00:01:39
Most thought process comes into play late night.
00:01:44
As in, you can be sitting there laying down with your
00:01:49
significant other and they can be talking to her out.
00:01:54
The blue sun will come to your mind like, hey, what do you
00:01:58
think of this? Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah 'cause
00:02:00
when you're building something from the ground up, your mind
00:02:03
never stops thinking. There's a constant thinking.
00:02:08
So with the late night working, you're gonna be putting together
00:02:12
a concept where you think might be a big hit to gain a new
00:02:16
audience or keep your current audience attention going with
00:02:22
your brand and what you're representing.
00:02:25
But in some cases your partner, she might feels he or she might
00:02:32
feels neglected. And in that aspect is her mind
00:02:40
frame is, is he thinking about me or is he more into this
00:02:44
business? So with more conversation of
00:02:50
you're trying to build what you're building brand wise, your
00:02:53
partner needs to understand that some nights is going to be I
00:02:58
need to work on this to sustain the future that I'm building for
00:03:01
both of us. Whether they was there from the
00:03:04
beginning, whether they was there in the middle stages.
00:03:08
But if you're including them with the business, they should
00:03:11
be appreciative because a lot of people would like to be in the
00:03:16
position, but only a select few can handle what's coming when
00:03:24
you're building something from the ground up.
00:03:27
And then from there you go from choosing between deadlines and
00:03:30
date nights. For me it's very easy and simple
00:03:34
because as I said previously, my company is based online and I
00:03:40
don't have a storefront so a lot of my stuff is really freelance
00:03:45
and freestyle. So I can work on something or
00:03:50
something I didn't seen online and he can get it can motivate
00:03:54
me to do something better or let me work on something that I
00:04:00
already been doing so it will keep me motivated.
00:04:06
But I wouldn't be able to miss a date night.
00:04:10
So I can adjust to managing the company while maintaining the
00:04:15
relationship. But as far as someone that has a
00:04:18
storefront where they got to open, close, do the books at
00:04:21
night, make sure everything is closed.
00:04:24
So in that aspect of business or running a corporation, a lot of
00:04:29
date nights can be met be missed because due to the demandingness
00:04:34
of the job, making sure the company is well maintained and
00:04:40
he was feeding other mouths other than itself.
00:04:45
From there we go from quality time to quantity time.
00:04:51
And as I said previously, quality time is you, you guys
00:04:58
working on a business, but together building trust and
00:05:02
foundation to where it's growing in both of you guys eyes and not
00:05:08
just one sided. Quantity time is the same thing.
00:05:15
The more focused business wise than quality time.
00:05:19
Quality time for me is both of us working on it at the same
00:05:24
time while spending quality time and quantity time.
00:05:28
But depending on what type of business or corporation that
00:05:31
you're running, the thing, both of them might intertwine with
00:05:36
one another and it might be two separate things.
00:05:39
So depending on who you're dealing with will dictate the
00:05:43
quality time and the quantity time.
00:05:45
From there, we're going to get into money, power and
00:05:49
expectations during like dating while broke versus dating after
00:05:55
success. Dating while broke is the make
00:05:59
or break in the relationship to see if your mate is really
00:06:03
seeing the vision that you're presenting to her or she's going
00:06:13
to sit back and wait and come in a picture after the success.
00:06:16
Dating while broke is the beginning stages.
00:06:19
It builds trust, it builds foundation and it builds a
00:06:22
program where both of you guys are working on this vision and
00:06:26
putting it together, which usually a lot of people will
00:06:32
stick with that partner because it was around when a person
00:06:35
didn't have anything then that most issues that I'm seeing to
00:06:40
now with a lot of people is, you know, a lot of people want to
00:06:44
come after the success. Well, after all the hard work is
00:06:47
done. And it's like they feel like, I
00:06:50
want to say they feel like it, but they want to come after the
00:06:54
success. Once everything is done, then
00:06:56
they can take the trips, look good, be seen in public.
00:07:00
And you know, sometimes that grind work when you're there
00:07:03
makes a big difference because when someone comes after the
00:07:06
success, it's more of a caution because you're not sure if that
00:07:11
person's there for you or there for their own personal gain.
00:07:15
And who pays for what in the early stages.
00:07:18
If both, if both parties are participating in the vision,
00:07:22
they both pay for it in the early stages because money is
00:07:26
being put into it, time and efforts being put into it.
00:07:30
Marketing, everything's being put into it.
00:07:34
So whether the person's on paper or not, they should still be
00:07:39
represented and compensated and appreciative for the work that
00:07:43
they put in to building this vision and making it what it is.
00:07:47
And then with that, you know, usually comes for comes with
00:07:51
income imbalance and ego. Once the money comes in, that's
00:07:56
when usually the problem starts. They always say more money, more
00:08:01
problems, the more money you make and the more problems that
00:08:04
come. A lot of people feel like their
00:08:08
contribution is bigger than the next person.
00:08:11
So it will really have to put the standing, the understanding
00:08:21
between both parties to make sure that I did this, you did
00:08:26
that. This is how we're going to
00:08:31
maintain the income and make sure we're not getting all
00:08:34
balance and making sure that we're staying afloat because we
00:08:37
got here without the money. Now that the money is here, we
00:08:40
got to make sure to sustain it and keep it going for future
00:08:43
reference and create this generational wealth.
00:08:46
And as usual, it comes with ego. It doesn't matter who has the
00:08:51
ego, ego's going to be in the picture.
00:08:54
And usually when ego's in the picture, understanding and
00:08:57
common sense is out the picture. So main one thing for sure, as
00:09:02
you grow, I always stay humble. But I don't mind the hustle and
00:09:08
my ego stay in check because I've been at the bottom and had
00:09:12
nothing. So that's why I stay grounded
00:09:15
and rooted in every aspect of life and every day because it
00:09:20
can be here today, it'll be gone tomorrow.
00:09:24
So that's why I always tell people to live their truth and
00:09:29
if you have an ego, stick with it and just be who you are
00:09:32
because when you're trying to be something else, this is all the
00:09:36
way fate you did and financial transparency and new
00:09:41
relationships as the company grows, people is in the mix.
00:09:47
You have to pay somebody to do certain tasks that used to do
00:09:51
for yourself. Now you've done made enough
00:09:55
money to where you have to pay somebody to do it for you.
00:09:58
So as time goes on, you have to watch finances and make sure
00:10:04
that enough money is coming in and you have enough to maintain
00:10:09
stability and pay your employees to keep a a big happy family on
00:10:15
the vision that you guys created or they keep it going because at
00:10:20
the end of the day, it's all about legacy.
00:10:23
It's all about legacy, and then we're going to touch on support
00:10:29
versus sacrifice when support turns into pressure as time went
00:10:36
on for me, so I really have support, but it never really
00:10:43
felt like pressure because I go at my own pace.
00:10:46
I never put myself in a position to where people are pressuring
00:10:52
me to do whatever it is that they want me to do.
00:10:56
The thing is, I started this from the ground up with no body
00:11:00
in the picture. It just popped up and what I
00:11:05
created so far is working so I would never feel pressure to do
00:11:09
anything. I might take a personal advice,
00:11:12
but if it doesn't resonate with my program, then it would most
00:11:17
definitely be on the back burner because when I do it, like I had
00:11:20
said before, what I'm doing is working and I like to keep that
00:11:24
same momentum going. And then we're going to touch on
00:11:28
expecting your partner to hold it down.
00:11:32
If your partner understands the vision, respect you as a person,
00:11:37
respect what you're building, then they're going to hold it
00:11:40
down. But if they're not there, what
00:11:44
good intention or genuineness, then they're not going to hold
00:11:47
it down. They just going to be around for
00:11:49
the moment. And when your partner doesn't
00:11:52
understand your vision, that's when they feel neglected.
00:11:58
You're spending more time with your business, you're spending
00:12:01
more time networking, doing all these things business wise and
00:12:05
you're neglecting me. That's a good example of not
00:12:09
understanding your vision. They came into the relationship
00:12:13
with their intentions, but not pure intentions on what it is
00:12:17
that you're building. So that's why, like I had said
00:12:24
previously, you really have to make sure who you bring into
00:12:29
your circle and who you bring around on what you doing because
00:12:34
it can make and break you. And it's hard building a brand
00:12:37
from the ground up and then being emotionally present while
00:12:43
mentally exhausted. That is a hard one for a lot of
00:12:48
people because when you work a job, you usually deal with the
00:12:55
core people at the workspace or the work office or the work
00:12:59
location. When you're a corporation, a
00:13:02
brand, or a small business owner, you're dealing with a lot
00:13:06
of strangers on an everyday basis.
00:13:09
So whether it's in person or electronically, and it becomes
00:13:13
overwhelming at times. So sometimes you're not really
00:13:18
tired physically, you're really tired mentally because being
00:13:23
around all them individuals, it can take a toll on you.
00:13:28
And some days you don't want to be interactive, you don't want
00:13:32
to talk to nobody. You just want to be off to
00:13:35
yourself. And it kind of Co Co exists with
00:13:39
what I said previously on another episode to where when
00:13:43
you're done working, you really need about an hour or two or 30
00:13:47
minutes, depending on what it is to get your WUSA moment on
00:13:54
before they can be emotionally available for your mate.
00:14:00
All person need is that time away.
00:14:03
So not just think too much on what's going on, just time to
00:14:07
themselves to reflect and get them to thinking that what I'm
00:14:11
doing is really, really building.
00:14:16
So your partner can understand you're being mentally exhausted
00:14:22
if you communicate that with her.
00:14:25
But if there's no communication in the process, there's going to
00:14:30
leave a lot of stuff in a limbo to where they don't know if
00:14:35
they're feeling appreciated, they don't know if they're doing
00:14:38
anything correctly. So it will cause a lot of doubt.
00:14:43
Next we're going to get into identity and growth outgrown
00:14:48
relationships as you level up. This is a tough one because as
00:14:54
you level up, most people would like to bring people along who
00:15:00
that was who that a lot of people like to bring somebody
00:15:05
along with them that they knew from the ground up.
00:15:08
As they call day ones, they pray people that was there and when
00:15:11
the vision was with a pen and paper.
00:15:16
So as time goes on, things change.
00:15:21
When I started my company, they gave me something to do.
00:15:25
I thought a couple of people was going to wear it.
00:15:27
I didn't expect all this to happen as I was being
00:15:33
consistent, taking a learning the craft and taking the craft
00:15:36
serious and learning all type of new things.
00:15:40
A lot of stuff start coming my way to where now, as I said
00:15:43
previously, people from overseas want to do the work for me.
00:15:49
I've been written about 6 times for different magazine articles,
00:15:54
3 for the Nashville Voyage, 2 from Canvas Rebel and one from
00:15:59
Bold Journey and which leads to me doing this podcast.
00:16:05
Also, my social media presence I grew to where now I'm talking to
00:16:11
multiple content creators with big followings.
00:16:15
I'm being recognized in certain circles, and now I'm getting to
00:16:22
investing in small little companies.
00:16:26
Like I said, you might have a vision of what you want to do,
00:16:32
but as time goes on and as you grow and level up, things
00:16:35
change, priorities change, mindset change.
00:16:39
So I want to say it's more so as outgrowing the relationship.
00:16:44
It's more of you'd have to teach or educate people who you're
00:16:49
bringing along with and see if they're ready for the real
00:16:52
growth of what comes along with all of this.
00:16:56
And while dating someone who met you before versus after, the
00:17:00
success before the success, everything is common ground and
00:17:06
neutral. The real test is when you start
00:17:10
growing, you start getting paid attention a whole lot more
00:17:13
people know who you are, recognizing you and being love,
00:17:18
being in your presence. That is the make and break.
00:17:21
Before they didn't really bother because it was still small and
00:17:24
growing, but after a lot of people don't know how to handle
00:17:28
that. A lot of people like the old you
00:17:31
where it was just simple cool, you know, a little fame here and
00:17:35
there. But as little Bootsy, I said, a
00:17:39
lot of people's hypnotize with hatred and that's a true fact
00:17:45
which goes into personal growth, creating emotional distance or a
00:17:54
deeper connection. For me, this personal growth
00:17:59
that I'm gaining this year, it's is a good thing to learn a whole
00:18:06
lot more and I know who is in the picture for the long haul
00:18:14
and I know who's there for the moment.
00:18:18
It took for a situation to happen late last year.
00:18:21
I already had a good following when I started going live on
00:18:25
TikTok, but once a situation happened late last year, it gave
00:18:31
me more time to work on it 24/7. When I worked on the company
00:18:36
24/7, I gained a even bigger following.
00:18:41
It was led to me starting this podcast, re uploading episodes,
00:18:46
coming up with topics, educating a whole lot of people and giving
00:18:53
individuals something to look at, listen to at a different
00:18:56
aspect on looking on life. Because all this is real rap.
00:19:01
Nothing stays. Nothing recorded, nothing stays.
00:19:09
I should say, all this is real. And then as time goes on, the
00:19:16
people that didn't fall off the wagon on the way up, the ones
00:19:20
that stayed, that deeper connection can't be broken.
00:19:24
Because if they was there from the beginning or if they was
00:19:28
there in the middle stages, but they still chose to stay, that
00:19:33
connection is going to be real deep.
00:19:35
And it's going hard to get rid of that person because they
00:19:38
stuck around when everybody left.
00:19:42
And last but not least, love as leverage, not a distraction.
00:19:50
How the right partner can sharpen your focus.
00:19:55
You can feel like I'm a do this and that's that.
00:20:01
When you're starting from the ground up and you don't have a
00:20:04
partner, it's going to be a whole lot of trial and error.
00:20:07
I can really say it's going to be a whole lot of trial and
00:20:09
error. But when you have the right
00:20:11
partner, they can give a little insight, a little further than
00:20:16
what you're thinking. Most people started something
00:20:21
they think very small and locally at first because that's
00:20:26
all they know. But when you have the right
00:20:29
partner, the right partner is going to help you move your
00:20:33
vision a whole lot further past being local depending if the
00:20:40
partner is good for you or not. So that's a a view of looking at
00:20:47
it as a sharpened focus because I can feel like this design can
00:20:52
work more so for the youth and the kids.
00:20:56
But another design that she might have, your mate might have
00:21:00
in mind might be a little further to where is more
00:21:05
universal all the way around to where everybody can wear it and
00:21:09
not just a selective age bracket or gender.
00:21:13
From there, emotional safety as a business advantage.
00:21:19
The emotional safety keeps a whole lot of things in line
00:21:24
depending on the right partners there from the ground up or the
00:21:27
middle stages, but stay through through everything to whereas
00:21:31
the business was not only as advantage, but both of you guys
00:21:34
is being looked at as brands. She's representing you, you Rep,
00:21:38
you represent her and in combination you both
00:21:41
representing the company because the perfect example of Jay-Z
00:21:46
does his own thing and Beyoncé do her own thing.
00:21:50
But when you look at both of them together, most definitely a
00:21:54
power couple, a lot of motivation right there to keep
00:21:57
see how two people in the same industry can maintain their own
00:22:03
by themselves. But when it come together, it's
00:22:07
a beautiful thing to where they being looked at as the new.
00:22:14
I can't come up with a couple. But As for they just a real
00:22:19
power couple, I would just say that.
00:22:22
And last but not least, building together versus building
00:22:29
separately. The prime example I had just
00:22:32
mentioned was Jay-Z and Beyoncé before they got married, they
00:22:37
were building separately, which is nothing wrong.
00:22:41
And as I said in my previous episodes, when you both set that
00:22:45
foundation and that program and you're sticking together, you're
00:22:50
building separately, but you're still together.
00:22:53
Then when you put it together, it's a beautiful thing because
00:22:58
now you have two brands going into different markets,
00:23:05
different genres depending on what they are into.
00:23:11
So as time goes on, when you're building separately, they put it
00:23:19
together, your brand grows a whole lot more because two
00:23:26
different influences, two different point of views and two
00:23:32
different mindsets, point of view, mindset, same thing, my
00:23:35
bad. So as it all comes together,
00:23:39
that's when you really see the hard work come along.
00:23:43
So more of the story is, even though you're building, make
00:23:49
sure to include your partner and not exclude them if they want to
00:23:53
be involved, but not as much as you want them to.
00:23:57
That's all a good thing. You don't have to force somebody
00:23:59
to do something they don't want to do.
00:24:01
But if they're all about you working and not trying to
00:24:05
contribute or anything like that but have so much to say, then
00:24:09
you should already know what to do from there man.
00:24:12
Then message to the youth. It doesn't matter where you at
00:24:19
as long as you stay consistent or whatever it is you're doing,
00:24:23
whatever lifestyle that you choose to do, as long as you
00:24:26
keep it 100 and everything that you do.
00:24:31
So it. Yeah, that's it.
00:24:37
I messed up on that. But before I close this out,
00:24:43
remember this, your story matters.
