Yo-yo yo-yo yo. Welcome to the We Legit 1/6
00:00:04
Throwing Hustle podcast where pressure builds diamonds and
00:00:07
story build legacies. This isn't small talk.
00:00:11
This is ambition. This is sacrifice.
00:00:13
This is to grind nobody claps for.
00:00:15
If you are building for nothing but betting on yourself and
00:00:20
chasing a vision, yo, you're in the right place.
00:00:24
Now let's get into this work now.
00:00:27
My previous episode I spoke on why entrepreneurs stay stuck,
00:00:32
but this episode is going to be something different because
00:00:35
everybody said he wants to level up, but most people stay in the
00:00:39
same place not because they lack talent, but because they are
00:00:43
trapped in habits, mindsets, and patterns they don't even
00:00:47
recognize in episode. In this episode, we're going to
00:00:52
be breaking down the real reasons people stay stuck and
00:00:55
how it shows up in everyday life.
00:00:57
This isn't surface level motivation.
00:01:00
This is the uncomfortable truth about growth, discipline, and
00:01:04
taking care of your direction. Coming off last episode where I
00:01:09
shared my story, this one goes deeper into the mindset behind
00:01:15
the moves. Why keep people?
00:01:21
What keeps people in the same cycle?
00:01:24
Why do some people talk about change but never actually move?
00:01:29
And most importantly, how do you break out of it?
00:01:34
First, what I'm going to get into is how comfort zones
00:01:39
quietly keep you stagnant. Now, everybody is a victim of
00:01:44
this. Reason being, when you're
00:01:47
coming, when you come into this earth, you know what you know
00:01:52
from the minute you born up to 18, now, everybody is a product
00:02:00
of their environment. So if your environment is toxic,
00:02:05
a whole lot of drama, violence, gangs, drugs, police brutality,
00:02:16
then you're going to be in a mindset to where it's like you
00:02:22
can't swim your way out of the situation.
00:02:27
So comfort zone is a real big thing.
00:02:31
A lot of people grow up in their own way, but in some cultures,
00:02:38
as I said previously, is generational curses.
00:02:41
So a lot of people grow up seeing generational curses and
00:02:44
feel like that this is the norm. But to someone outside of your
00:02:48
culture, look at that as this is not a good thing.
00:02:53
So when you are dealing with people that are stuck in a
00:03:00
comfort zone, it's hard to break it.
00:03:05
I'll speak on me to give the viewers and my core audience a
00:03:10
understanding. So for me growing up previously,
00:03:15
I spoke on growing up in Long Beach, CA.
00:03:18
It was gang invested, drug infested and it was all about
00:03:23
being down, being hard and representing your section.
00:03:27
So with the with seeing that growing up, it was kind of like
00:03:31
a down if you do, down if you don't.
00:03:35
And it's hard to break out that cycle because it hadn't gone on
00:03:41
for so long that it became a culture.
00:03:44
So now growing up in them environments, people feel like
00:03:49
they have to be a part of that or join that just to be cool and
00:03:56
go along with the flow. But as time goes on, you see a
00:04:00
lot of people die, see a lot of people be in and out them penal
00:04:04
institutions, or you see a lot of them catch a life sentence.
00:04:10
So it's a revolving door that consistently keeps happening.
00:04:15
So me growing up, I seen it from elementary school all the way up
00:04:20
to now. So you could say from the early
00:04:23
90s up to the late 2000s and 20s, mid 2000 twenties, however
00:04:29
you want to call this. So I've been seeing this for a
00:04:31
long time. I really didn't look at it in a
00:04:36
negative aspect in until I left California and seen it from a
00:04:42
different environment and a different perspective.
00:04:45
But before I get into that, I have to speak on how it is
00:04:49
growing up. So when you grow up, you only
00:04:52
know what you know in your environment, in your
00:04:55
neighborhood and what's going on.
00:04:57
But you're only stuck to wherever your parents move
00:05:03
before you, before you're an adult.
00:05:06
So wherever your parents move is what you have to adapt to, what
00:05:10
you're going to get used to and all the other stuff.
00:05:12
That's not the issue. The issue, what I'm speaking on
00:05:15
is when you become an adult, you have to make certain changes in
00:05:18
life instead of you want to keep the generational curse going on
00:05:22
or do you want to make a change now?
00:05:25
For me, I'm not gonna lie to you, I really didn't want to
00:05:29
leave California. It was everything there.
00:05:31
We had Six Flags Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm.
00:05:36
It was just so much to do. The whole toxic thing.
00:05:41
It was just there. But outside of all that, it was
00:05:45
just so much to do. But I can't say that I'm not a
00:05:51
product of my environment entirely, but certain
00:05:55
disciplines and structures got me to where I am today and got
00:06:00
me past the age of 21. So not a crash out.
00:06:05
But I'm an analytical thinker, so I would think so hard to the
00:06:11
core before any decision is made.
00:06:14
So that's what kept me out of trouble and above water all the
00:06:19
way up to now. But I have seen my elders drink,
00:06:26
smoke, play cards, the typical black family in America where
00:06:34
there's not much working going on assistance, things of that
00:06:41
nature, kind of typical thing. So I seen that growing up.
00:06:47
So for me, I wanted to break that cycle.
00:06:50
I ain't think of it as breaking a cycle, but I just don't want
00:06:53
to be stuck in that mindset, in that behavior to where it's like
00:06:58
I'm depending on others when I can go get this myself.
00:07:03
So it's like it's really hard. Like I always say in the
00:07:06
beginning when you're making a change to try to do something
00:07:09
different, it's always going to be hard because a lot of people
00:07:12
is not going to like what it is that you're doing.
00:07:15
So it's like you got to roll with it.
00:07:20
You got to roll with it because once you go down this path, it's
00:07:23
going to be beautiful in the end.
00:07:26
But in the beginning it's rough because you got to look at it.
00:07:30
Ain't nobody trying to do what you do.
00:07:32
Me at 17, I try to get a job. I want to work instead of
00:07:36
playing sports and all that other stuff.
00:07:40
So it's like I'm trying to maintain stability the best way
00:07:45
I can. So with that being said, I had
00:07:50
to keep going. So once I established working, I
00:07:56
got an apartment. Once I got the apartment and
00:08:00
then I I became stable at a young age.
00:08:05
So older people looking at me, different, younger people
00:08:09
looking at me, different coworkers looking at me,
00:08:11
different, my peer group looking at me in a hateful way because
00:08:15
it's like, who do you think he is to maintain an apartment, get
00:08:21
a job, and try to outdo us? So as as a young adult, after
00:08:31
high school, late teens, late teens, not even early 20s, but
00:08:34
just late teens, it's like it's intimidating to people that's
00:08:40
not on the same path as you. So mindset wise, you will see
00:08:48
how when you're trying to make changes, you know, you got to
00:08:55
let people go. Now that will make it a comfort
00:08:59
zone. Because when it's comfort, you
00:09:02
know, you know your neighborhood, you know your
00:09:04
environment, you know your culture, you know what you got
00:09:07
to do. So it's like, how could I
00:09:11
maintain stability and keep going?
00:09:16
So instead of being the norm, you got to break out of the
00:09:22
shell. So with breaking out of the
00:09:25
shell, look at it as like in superhero movies and cartoons
00:09:32
where you know, people have to, where people have to shit.
00:09:42
So as they're evolving, you know, things are shedding off of
00:09:46
you. You have to realize, like when
00:09:48
you're making steps and moves in your life, everybody can't go
00:09:52
along with you on this journey. So the benefit of what I'm
00:09:57
trying to explain is in a comfort zone, people are used to
00:10:02
you in a certain kind of way. And then once you break out that
00:10:07
comfort zone, then problem starts you change you're doing
00:10:12
this who you think you are. You think you're better than me.
00:10:16
You think you're better than us. Watch.
00:10:18
You're going to be back. Watch.
00:10:20
Watch when I tell you and then you're going to be calling right
00:10:23
back. And you should have never did
00:10:24
what you did them things right there.
00:10:28
People know that what you're doing is good, but they don't
00:10:34
want to accept the fact that you're changing without them
00:10:37
being a part of it because they're not ready for that
00:10:40
change. And depending on where you at in
00:10:43
life, you'll see their turn out versus your turn out.
00:10:48
Because when you're ready to make a change, you ready now to
00:10:54
your core group of people that you hang with on an everyday
00:10:58
basis of people that know you, they might not be ready, but if
00:11:02
they're a real genuine person, they will be like, hey man, I
00:11:07
understand what you're trying to do and all this other stuff, but
00:11:09
I'm just not ready for that. But I salute you.
00:11:14
That's all the will and dandy. But if a person coming at you
00:11:17
with the trying to bait you back in to who they want you to be
00:11:22
instead of you choosing on who you want to be, that's not the
00:11:27
group that you need to evolve. So that's why most people move
00:11:33
away where they're from to get a better life.
00:11:37
And when people move away, it's not because it's just, it's not
00:11:45
because of what you think. They just want something
00:11:47
different and to change and be around new people that don't
00:11:51
know them and want to experience something different, whether it
00:11:53
can be a different city, county, state, or whatever the case may
00:11:56
be. But once you leave your original
00:11:59
spot, people blossom in so many different ways that you don't
00:12:02
even know they might still have they.
00:12:05
I call it their their ways. But once they leave where
00:12:11
they're from, they look at life totally different and it helps a
00:12:15
lot, especially when you start traveling outside of your
00:12:18
comfort zone. For me I didn't leave California
00:12:23
till I was about 2524. First place I went to was
00:12:27
Phoenix, AZ. Soon as I left that state line,
00:12:30
I seen the difference. Arizona was cleaner.
00:12:33
It was desert like. But when I went to Phoenix, I
00:12:35
seen the difference between LA and Phoenix.
00:12:38
I was like, man, costly was a little different.
00:12:40
It's cheaper to live, but it seemed kind of manageable and it
00:12:44
was clean. It was really clean.
00:12:47
So I seen the difference. So from there, you know, I had
00:12:50
the bug, you know, I was like, man, I was like, I wanna see
00:12:53
more of the world. So I seen a good portion of the
00:12:56
United States, but that's one way for people that's from their
00:13:00
mid 20s or late teens, early 20s, all the way up to whatever
00:13:06
my age bracket is from 18 to 45 S in that range, there's people
00:13:14
I'm speaking to, male and female.
00:13:16
So it's like once you escape your comfort, you're going to
00:13:21
blossom automatically. Now, I'm not going to lie to
00:13:24
you, when you leave your comfort, give it six months to a
00:13:29
year, because when you first go somewhere that's outside of your
00:13:34
comfort, it's going to feel weird.
00:13:36
You're not used to it. You think these people are,
00:13:38
which like different and all that is true, but you got us
00:13:44
have you have to adapt. You have to adapt to something
00:13:46
different. So when you adapt, then you'll
00:13:51
be like, oh, OK, this location that I chose to be in, it's
00:13:57
different. But remember, people remain the
00:14:01
same. So when you're out your comfort,
00:14:04
you'll see things a whole lot clearer versus the people that's
00:14:08
there comfortable and their comfort.
00:14:10
So that's why when people leave their comfort zone, they go to
00:14:15
other areas, they see things a whole lot faster and clearer
00:14:18
versus the people that's there in it because they pop, they
00:14:22
probably never left their comfort zone.
00:14:24
So they're trying to figure out how you see this, but they don't
00:14:26
see it. So it's a difference of
00:14:29
perception. So that's is the benefits of
00:14:33
growing up in your comfort, seeing what your comfort is
00:14:39
after becoming an adult, then leaving your comfort.
00:14:44
Those right there will help you recognize being stagnant,
00:14:50
comfortable in the benefits of what will happen when you leave
00:14:54
your comfort. Now, we're going to get into why
00:14:59
fear judgment controls more decisions than people admit.
00:15:05
Like I said earlier, when you make a judgment call, people is
00:15:13
not going to like your decision. And I spoke on this last season,
00:15:17
but I want to get into it more clear now.
00:15:22
When I was living in Long Beach, I only told a couple people and
00:15:27
I made posts on Facebook. I was like, hey, I'm believing
00:15:32
couple of days, couple months. And you know, it was nice
00:15:35
knowing everybody. But then nobody believed me.
00:15:39
You know what I'm saying? Nobody believed me.
00:15:41
So it was like, OK, I wasn't tripping because I already
00:15:47
made-up my mind on what I want to do.
00:15:50
So it's like then it was there fear.
00:15:55
Yeah, it was fair because I graduated college.
00:16:00
I was working jobs, never promoted, never got no real perk
00:16:06
or benefit. You know, I'm just work,
00:16:08
homework, home. I'm not seeing anything
00:16:11
different. So I was like, well, maybe I'll
00:16:15
just go to Texas. I'll go to Texas, Dallas, build
00:16:21
up and build up working in my career field and I'll come back
00:16:26
to California. So a lot of people, some people
00:16:30
was like, oh, that's good that you're leaving, blah, blah,
00:16:32
blah. Some people was like, hey, why'd
00:16:34
you leave this the best place to be?
00:16:37
And I was just like, you know, I just, I need something different
00:16:40
in life because I'm not feeling what's happening.
00:16:44
So make a Long story short, I found a job on the Internet just
00:16:53
searching randomly, phone interview, everything went good.
00:16:58
I just had to go out there and what you might call it do the
00:17:03
psychological tests to work with the children.
00:17:06
So before I got there I was working, saving money.
00:17:10
All the money I did I saved. I went on the Internet, I looked
00:17:14
at them apartments, I looked at the salary on the job I managed,
00:17:19
how much it was going to be after taxes.
00:17:21
I always base everything after taxes to see how much money I
00:17:24
have leftover. So I did that, found a place, I
00:17:30
looked at the crime statistics online, I looked at what was in
00:17:34
the area where I if I had to drive forward and get this and
00:17:37
that. So, you know, I was just
00:17:40
learning and seeing what was in the area before I actually got
00:17:45
there. So when I moved to Texas, I said
00:17:50
my goodbye to everybody. I patched up all of the bad
00:17:55
press, not bad press, but you know, the bad mark I left on
00:18:01
people. So I made sure I left on good
00:18:05
terms with everybody. And that's a good thing because
00:18:10
now it's like it's just mutual all the way around.
00:18:15
So I can't complain. I can't trip and people know my
00:18:18
character. So when I made the move, people
00:18:24
was looking, seeing how it was going.
00:18:28
I got real closer with the Nashville, TN family on this
00:18:33
journey. But I'm not going to lie to you,
00:18:36
when I drove from Long Beach to Moreno Valley by that Arizona,
00:18:43
Nevada, California, like state line area, as I said earlier,
00:18:48
with that shedding each mile, it was like more shedding,
00:18:53
shedding, shedding just like leaving, you know?
00:18:57
And it was just like, to be honest with you, I ain't really
00:19:02
seen myself going back to California and I ain't even to
00:19:03
visit because that's how much, that's how much I was really
00:19:09
ready to do this. I mean, judgment control is
00:19:13
there because people don't want to see you leave that and got
00:19:15
used to you being around. So now they got adapt to
00:19:18
something different. They got adapt to you being away
00:19:22
at a distance. Now the phones is easier now
00:19:25
because now you FaceTime and you know, you know, call text and
00:19:31
all that other stuff. So that's how I looked at it.
00:19:32
I was like, I'm still there, you know, just hit me on the phone.
00:19:36
So always remember when you're going to make a change, your
00:19:41
peer group, your neighborhood, and the people around you that
00:19:44
know you, they're going to make judgment calls for you to get
00:19:47
you to stay. Now it's up to you on that
00:19:50
decision part because if you stay, you already know what
00:19:52
you're going to deal with. Same clubs, same bar, same
00:19:56
streets, same people, same everything.
00:19:58
Ain't going to be nothing different unless people from
00:20:00
outside of your area moves in, then you get to know them.
00:20:04
But then that judgment, judge, that prejudge thing is going to
00:20:08
come in because they're going to be different from what you're
00:20:10
used to. And then you're going to be
00:20:12
like, well, why they come over here and all this, you know,
00:20:16
that's going to come into play. But when you leave, then you're
00:20:21
going to be looking at them people different because you're
00:20:24
going to see the difference on how it is by you leaving your
00:20:28
comfort and them staying in their comfort.
00:20:31
Then you're going to speak wisdom and to them because you
00:20:34
left your comfort, but they still in their comfort.
00:20:38
So that's how communication and interaction with folks leaving
00:20:44
and staying in happens all throughout the the world.
00:20:49
So just be mindful of who you dealing with and what you're
00:20:54
dealing with because you never know who you're going to run
00:20:57
into and it's always best to have a strong mindset and a
00:21:03
broad look on life. Now the next thing we're going
00:21:09
to get into is the trap of waiting for validation from
00:21:14
people who aren't building anything.
00:21:18
Now I am a victim of this because when I never left my
00:21:28
comfort I was looking at my elders as this is everything.
00:21:40
Reason being they had a status, they've been to the pen and
00:21:46
those are only two things. And believe it or not growing up
00:21:51
my whole thing in life was that had be just like them.
00:21:56
But I never actually thought about going to the penitentiary.
00:22:00
It just never came to mind. But I did want to have a decent
00:22:04
job and being a city around people that I knew and pull up
00:22:08
at that famous Winchell's on Anaheim in Atlantic in that
00:22:13
parking lot to Polly Plaza parking lot and just hang out
00:22:16
like they did. But when I graduated college, my
00:22:20
mindset got the changing and I start looking at things
00:22:23
different. I looked at finances, I looked
00:22:26
at stability, cost of living, how things will be further on in
00:22:30
life and how stuff's going to change.
00:22:32
So going to college changed my mindset on a lot of different
00:22:36
things. So that type of thinking less
00:22:44
so, but I still wanted to build something to where it's like,
00:22:51
hey, he did. So it's like, I want to do that,
00:23:00
but it's hard to explain that to somebody when they're not trying
00:23:06
to do anything, but they're trying to dictate everything
00:23:10
that you're doing because they don't want to see you rise and
00:23:13
reach your full potential when they're stuck in their dilemma.
00:23:18
So there's always going to be people around.
00:23:22
They don't do nothing at all. And when I mean nothing, I mean
00:23:27
nothing and they're going to try to dictate you to do what it is
00:23:32
they want you to do. But you the 1 putting in work.
00:23:37
And what I mean by putting in work, you're going to work,
00:23:40
you're going to school, trade school, getting degree
00:23:43
certificate, trying to build yourself up to be to where you
00:23:48
don't have to be stuck in certain situations and
00:23:51
environments. You want to go outside the
00:23:54
environment. Nothing wrong with staying in
00:23:57
your environment, but just remember hate is hate.
00:24:03
Some people's not going to like the car that you drive, clothes
00:24:07
that you buy, the shoes that you wear, and how you decorate your
00:24:10
place. Now when you stay within your
00:24:15
comfort and trying to grow, it's hard.
00:24:19
People break into your stuff. They talk bad about you, they
00:24:24
want you around but they don't want you around and they want
00:24:27
you to feed they habits. It's your vision.
00:24:31
Now with that being said, when you are trying to build, you got
00:24:39
to have the right people around, same people that think along the
00:24:43
lines as how you think when you're trying to build something
00:24:46
with people that have nothing going on, they're going to
00:24:50
tarnish it on purpose because they don't want to see a growth
00:24:53
and they don't got the patience and they don't know anything no
00:24:56
different. So them people push them, give
00:25:01
them that stiff arm, get them out the way.
00:25:05
Nice but not nice. Be cordial, cool, but be but
00:25:14
stay firm on what it is you're saying because they're going to
00:25:19
still push that button to make sure that you own what you own
00:25:23
and make sure that you this is really what you want to do.
00:25:26
Now it's going to be fallouts. It's going to be fallouts,
00:25:31
people, it's going to be fallouts.
00:25:33
You have to prepare for the fallout.
00:25:35
You have to look at it and be like, well, is it worth me
00:25:40
having this person around? What am I benefit of having this
00:25:44
person around me? Having people around me as I'm
00:25:51
growing for myself and they have nothing going on, it just didn't
00:25:57
make sense. So I was like, you know what,
00:26:01
I'm gonna make this change and I'm gonna do it for the the best
00:26:04
and I'm gonna do it for me. I mean, I have younger siblings,
00:26:08
I have younger relatives. I had nieces and nephews.
00:26:11
But there's certain things that I have to do that I chose to do
00:26:17
for them to look at me in a different kind of light to where
00:26:20
all he's different from what I'm used to and everybody else.
00:26:26
So it's like, OK, this is what we rocking with.
00:26:30
Either you respect it or you don't.
00:26:32
But just remember people that as long as you live in your truth
00:26:36
and what it is that you want to do, all the outside noise ain't
00:26:39
going to matter because they everybody going to have
00:26:42
something to say. Whether they know you or don't
00:26:44
know you, they're going to have something to say.
00:26:46
I have these particular people that I used to work with still
00:26:51
looking at me, still stalking. So I'm not even from here.
00:26:56
So that's a prime example for you to look at.
00:26:59
Now. I catch hate on everyday basis
00:27:03
just on what I do. Sell clothes, a podcast, start a
00:27:10
media company. Now on the verge of starting
00:27:13
another business venture that I'm going to test the waters
00:27:17
with, but let's just go see how it works.
00:27:20
So with those things, you think somebody on the outside looking
00:27:25
at me like, oh man, he's really doing his thing.
00:27:26
But not everybody's going to rock with you even though you're
00:27:30
out your comfort zone and area. But just remember, when you go
00:27:34
into another domain and another area, they're not going to rock
00:27:38
with what you're doing. Keep that in mind too.
00:27:42
Hate isn't just in your comfort area and zone, it's everywhere.
00:27:49
Remember that. And next we're going to get into
00:27:54
how comparing journeys to others slow your progress.
00:28:04
Previously, when people don't have nothing going on, they
00:28:09
always want to dictate what other people do.
00:28:13
They always want to slow this person roll down.
00:28:16
Say, for instance, I go to college.
00:28:19
Hey, man, I got safe with these midterms.
00:28:21
Hey, man, we're trying to hit the club just like man you, you
00:28:24
could that wait. Prime example.
00:28:27
Hey, man, I got to do this homework, man, so I can make
00:28:30
sure I get these grades together and I'm in all this other stuff.
00:28:33
Hey, man, we going out, man, we bout to go to the beach.
00:28:36
That that can't wait. So when you're in those stages,
00:28:42
you have to look at what people are doing and telling you that
00:28:47
can wait. Just come kick it with us now.
00:28:50
Bars, clubs and people, let's go into them.
00:28:55
It's not going anywhere people. It's still going to be there.
00:28:59
So you might as well sacrifice 3 junior college, 2 years.
00:29:06
College is four years. After that it's on you and
00:29:08
whatever, however you want to advance.
00:29:10
So how many years and whatever field you want to get into, just
00:29:15
remember that is nothing wrong with going out here and there or
00:29:20
after the semester, during the semester, or however you program
00:29:24
your schedule. But just remember that that
00:29:29
stuff is always going to be there.
00:29:30
It's not going nowhere, but once you finish your progress, then
00:29:35
you're going to see the fruits of your labor.
00:29:38
Now for me, it took a minute because I didn't know how I was
00:29:44
just going to turn about because I had nobody to lean on.
00:29:48
I learned everything on my own and nobody in the family did all
00:29:51
the stuff that I'm doing. So I had nobody to look to or
00:29:55
get advice from. So that's why my journey is a
00:29:59
little different compared to someone else's journey.
00:30:03
They probably had a relative or somebody that they knew that did
00:30:06
these things that can coach them and guide them into what it is
00:30:10
that they're going through and get them through things.
00:30:12
Me, I had to learn from the ground up and on my own.
00:30:15
So I can't get mad on how I came about doing things, but just
00:30:22
know that I learned it and now I teach it to other people in ways
00:30:28
for them to understand and for them not to feel, you know,
00:30:33
guilty or bad. Because I can't judge somebody
00:30:38
on how they are because I used to be that person until I
00:30:42
realized what was going on. So when people that have nothing
00:30:47
going on try to slow your progress, just remember that
00:30:51
they are being who they are. It's up to you to stand up to
00:30:55
these people or this person and let them know like hey, I'm
00:30:59
trying to do what I got to do so I can build myself up to where I
00:31:03
don't have to be using my last 20 to get a 40 oz or cigarettes
00:31:09
or make it seem like I got whatever it is that I got to go
00:31:13
to this club or a bar. I want to build myself up so I
00:31:19
don't have to lowball and try to make myself bigger than what I
00:31:23
am. So a lot of people really need
00:31:30
to look at their comfort #1 #2 look at the culture,
00:31:38
environment, and what you're dealing with on a daily basis
00:31:41
and #3 how to change it. What do I need to do to change
00:31:46
this circumstance and what I'm going through right now?
00:31:49
And four, figure out a program on how to get out of the
00:31:55
comfort. So those are 4 things I would
00:32:00
say to get yourselves prepared for what it is that you're going
00:32:05
to face when you make changes in life.
00:32:07
And for me, the difference between being busy versus
00:32:14
actually growing, Being busy is going to work, coming home,
00:32:22
cooking, cleaning, make sure your kids and stuff is like
00:32:26
that. I don't have any kids.
00:32:28
I'm speaking on the terms of a parent and everyday working
00:32:34
individual, so imagine them things.
00:32:38
That's what you call being busy, but what is being called what I
00:32:43
call is actually growing. After you do your daily things,
00:32:49
you take time out to work on school, work, midterm, business
00:32:55
plan, content. That's what you call actually
00:32:59
growing when you're doing something out of your everyday
00:33:03
norm. That is what you call being busy
00:33:09
and actually growing. Being busy is doing your routine
00:33:14
daily things. That's just being busy growing.
00:33:19
Making sure like this jacket, make sure the merch is straight
00:33:23
like the logo on the back, making sure you're growing that
00:33:28
all that on this song corner shelf, making sure that is
00:33:32
straight. So you know, it's like those are
00:33:36
things that you really got to look at.
00:33:39
So what you're going through, get yourself get yourself a
00:33:44
sheet of paper and a pen or a pencil.
00:33:47
Write down what it is that you need to do, what you see and
00:33:50
what you change 'cause when you look at on the phone it don't
00:33:54
hit the same. When you write it on pen and
00:33:56
paper it hits different because you're looking at it like oh
00:33:59
wow, certain things I never thought about.
00:34:02
Then depending on your age range, have yourself a drink,
00:34:08
chill, relax, sit there and think, have jazz playing ways,
00:34:14
whatever it is that calm you down and have a chill moment of
00:34:16
silence and really sit here and think about how can I change
00:34:21
what it is that I want to change?
00:34:23
Or if you not wanting to change how you want to grow, it's
00:34:28
nothing wrong with staying in your comfort, but just realize
00:34:31
that it's going to be hard to grow because you're in your
00:34:35
comfort and these people know you.
00:34:38
So for you to try to make a change, it's going to be a
00:34:40
constant battle every day. Remember that.
00:34:44
So last but not least is what we're going to touch on is what
00:34:50
it really takes to shift mindset and start moving different.
00:34:56
For me, I never had the concept of we legit.
00:35:03
I got in trouble at 20 years old.
00:35:06
I went to jail and I was looking at serious time and I said to
00:35:14
myself, I don't like how these people talking to me.
00:35:18
I don't like these circumstances.
00:35:20
I don't even like the situation that I'm in.
00:35:22
And when I get up out this, if I can get out this situation, I
00:35:26
will make a full blown change. And you know, I would be
00:35:30
strictly legit. Now, I ain't gonna lie to you.
00:35:35
When I got out the situation, they let me out and I was just
00:35:40
on the path of just something different.
00:35:42
And mind you, I'm 20, so I'm doing things totally different
00:35:47
from the norm of LA culture. I mean, you got people that work
00:35:52
and do and hang out and stuff with me.
00:35:55
It's like I ain't do none of that.
00:35:57
The whole mindset just changed after that because I didn't see
00:36:00
myself being incarcerated for years, just going along with a
00:36:06
program. I like to run my own program.
00:36:09
That's the true Aries. And, and it's like, OK, so once
00:36:16
I made the change, I got out. That made the change, although
00:36:20
I'm gonna be straight and narrow.
00:36:21
So each day and year, you know, I worked on it, worked on it.
00:36:26
Women in the life didn't understand what I was trying to
00:36:28
do. So that became a conflict of
00:36:32
interest, you know, And then at that time in LA culture,
00:36:37
everybody was in doing the same thing or something similar.
00:36:40
So it's like, how do I break this cycle?
00:36:44
How do I break this cycle? I have nobody to speak to or how
00:36:46
to break this cycle. That's what I'm saying in my
00:36:48
head. So I got around people that
00:36:50
didn't know me from a can of paint that I work with and I
00:36:53
didn't tell them every little thing about total little
00:36:56
snippets to see if they're in tune or what I'm talking about.
00:37:01
So that happened. They understood that somehow
00:37:04
gave me advice and I still follow it to this day.
00:37:07
And so with that being said, all this up to now didn't started
00:37:15
when I started the company. It started when I decided at 20
00:37:19
years old, October 2008, that I want to make a change in life to
00:37:25
be something totally different from the norm.
00:37:27
And there's always rocky in the beginning because a lot of
00:37:31
people ain't going to take you serious.
00:37:33
Whatever it is that you're going to do, nobody's going to take
00:37:36
you serious until they see it. And when they see it, they treat
00:37:39
you different. So keep that in mind people that
00:37:44
when you are going to make a change and you stick through it,
00:37:50
go through the mud, the trenches of it and all, it's going to be
00:37:53
beautiful at the end of the day. Now with me per usual, college
00:38:00
